Social venture specializing in tree planting and forest restoration

TreePlanet is a social venture that develops forest-creation products enabling tree planting through a variety of methods, offered to citizens, corporations, and government agencies. Its goal is to plant 100 million trees worldwide by 2050. Since co-founders Kim Hyung-su and Jung Min-chul established the company in 2010, TreePlanet has planted 1.1 million trees around the world, working alongside the strategy and marketing teams of diverse global companies to develop three-to-five-year environmental conservation campaign strategies — mobilizing 1.2 million participants in forest-creation efforts.

Key initiatives include the 'Companion Tree' adoption program — where purchasing one plant results in another being planted in a forest — and the 'Classroom Forest' program, which creates indoor forests inside elementary school classrooms to reduce fine dust levels and support children's emotional development. Using the revenue generated from these programs, TreePlanet has partnered with the Eastern Regional Forest Service since January 2018 to restore forests damaged by wildfires, participating in the planting of approximately 120,000 trees and forest restoration in wildfire-affected areas across Gangneung, Donghae, and Samcheok. In 2020, it launched a project together with the Korea Forest Service, SK Forestry, and the Ethiopian government to support Ethiopian coffee-farming households and build sustainable farms — an international development cooperation initiative conducted as part of the 'P4G Initiative,' a coalition of mid-sized nations across continents committed to green growth and the Global Goals 2020.

As ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) factors become increasingly central to corporate management and carbon neutrality is set as a national goal, TreePlanet is proposing projects tailored to each industry sector for major global companies and public institutions worldwide, pursuing long-term, sustainable partnerships.
