Executive VP at Samsung Electronics
Dr. Youngcho Chi is the Executive Vice President in charge of the Corporate Strategy at Samsung Electronics. He is responsible for the corporate level strategy of Samsung Electronics, which generates global sales of over US$200 Billion. His focus is in formulating corporate strategy on new businesses, M&A, platform & services, and industry disruption issues.
Previously, Dr. Chi was the Managing Partner of Mobile Industry in Asia-Pacific at Accenture. In 10 years, Dr. Chi led over 100 projects related to telecommunications, such as developing R&D, 3G business, CRM, pricing, and marketing strategies for numerous mobile service operators. He served as the Board Member at Accenture Korea.
Prior to Accenture, Dr. Chi worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company in Korea and Sweden for 3 years, leading various projects including the development of business strategy for multimedia services and new telecommunications services of large corporate clients. From 1989 to 1995, Dr. Chi conducted R&D on software algorithm at AT&T Bell Laboratories in Holmdel, New Jersey.
Dr. Chi studied Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University. He obtained B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University.
Dr. Chi joined SparkLabs’ Board of Advisors to help startups develop and grow. He graciously shares his knowledge, insights, and network from 27 years in the ICT industry to further develop the startup ecosystem in Korea and beyond.
