Brian is a Managing Director at Mithril Capital Management. He has had stints in startups, government, and international organizations, focusing the positive impact that open technologies can have on society. He started the Apache Software Foundation and CollabNet, which pioneered open source tools and development methods to transform how organizations write software. He served at the White House under the Office of Science and Technology Policy, focused on open government through better civic technology.

He also launched and managed two big open source projects at the Department of Health and Human Services, accelerating the adoption of standardized health information exchange. He was also Chief Technology Officer at the World Economic Forum from 2010-2012. Now he's on the hunt for great young companies tackling hard problems and disrupting industries.
