Mike is currently founder of an unnamed advertising startup. Previously he served as CTO and VP of Creative Commons, a non-profit developer of legal and technical tools to make sharing and collaboration more effective. He is an expert in open source/open content/open data, semantic web, and mass collaboration, and continues to advise companies and institutions on these matters.

(Transcript Verlag, 2012). He serves on the boards of AcaWiki and OpenHatch. He co-founded Bitzi, a mass collaboration/open data pioneer, and has worked as an enterprise and web software engineer. He holds a degree in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
